Why is it that whenever I travel in comfort on planes and trains, my journey is speedy? I came back from San Francisco in Virgin Upper Class (great btw) in an amazing 9 hours. That's the fatest the pilot says he's done it in a decade.

My previous transatlantic flight took as long than that ... from New York. I was of course in Economy that time. We got stuck on the tarmac for 2 hours at JFK and another hour at Heathrow.

Last month I went to see my brother on a packed Friday train up to Lancashire. As we got within a mile of the station I started making my way to the exit. Of course, at that point we grind to a halt and I spent half an hour stood in the corridor.

Sod's Law of Travel perhaps?
